【内容简介】
　　维克多·梅纳德(比尔·奈伊饰)是一名正经历中年危机的即将退休的顶尖职业杀手,他人过中年却一直孑然一身,过着单调刻板的生活,从未品尝过爱情的滋味。而他那位专横霸道的老妈(艾琳·阿特金斯饰)一直逼迫他找个女人传宗接代,好“传承家族血液中的杀手基因”。
　　一次,维克多受雇于黑帮老大弗格森(鲁伯特·埃弗雷特饰)去杀一个用伪造的名画骗了他一大笔钱的职业骗子罗丝(艾米丽·布朗特饰),但是维克多在伺机下手的过程中对美貌热情的罗丝产生了莫名的感情,关键时刻放过了她的性命,并不自觉中担当起了她的保护者的职责。而在这个过程中,他们邂逅了一个在停车场打零工的年轻人托尼(鲁伯特·格林特饰),托尼是个率性乐天的孤儿,正渴望改变自己浑浑噩噩的人生,阴差阳错之下,托尼误以为维克多是一名私家侦探,遂五体投地地拜维克多为师。
　　黑帮老大弗格森在发现维克多未能履行自己的任务后,派出了“业内第二好”的杀手迪克森(马丁·弗里曼饰)去继续完成杀死罗丝的任务,顺带手将“违约”的维克多师徒也结果掉。维克多、罗丝和托尼这三个风马牛不相及的人不得不结伴踏上了亡命之旅......
