The Eleventh Hour，字面上的意思是 "第十一个小时"，但是在英语中却有另一层含义。在古代，犹太人通常将白昼分为12个小时。《圣经》中讲过这样一个故事：天国里有一个葡萄园，经常需要从外面雇用大量的工人来园里劳动，一天之内有三四批人在不同的时间进入园内，最后一批是11点进去的，但是所有雇工的工资要在一天劳动时一起支付。有一个家伙想到了一个偷懒的办法，他每天都和最后一批工人到园里劳动，但在领工资时，却和其他工人一样领取全天的工资。这个人的偷机取巧行为固然不可取，但从这个故事中，我们可以知道The Eleventh Hour的含义是 "最后一刻"，很多场合下也可解释成 "危急之时"。
