　　布莱恩（保罗·达诺 Paul Dano 饰）上过大学，家境殷实，还有两个中产哥哥，但他却选择做了高级床垫推销员，也毫无成家立业的打算，只是有一个古怪的人生目标——领养一个中国婴儿，但因他散漫的生活状态和条件，总是申请不到。一日，一个美丽的女孩海贝（佐伊·丹斯切尔 Zooey Deschanel 饰）走进了他的床垫店，还在试睡时候真的睡着了，两人就此相识，擦出火花。海贝是个标准富家女，她没有正经工作，也没有认真交过男朋友，和富豪老爸一起生活，心里留着风流老妈的阴影。布莱尔和海贝的交往在认真和逃避之间左右摇摆地进行起来，直到布莱恩的中国婴儿终于申请下来，已经决定离开他去巴黎学厨艺的海贝似乎也开始动摇……
