　　在德州名叫伯顿的普通小镇里，生活着一个并不开心的少女布里丝·卡文德（艾伦·佩姬 Ellen Page 饰）。她迷恋摇滚乐，对人生有着别样的憧憬，但却常被母亲布鲁克（玛西亚·盖·哈登 Marcia Gay Harden 饰）打扮成乖乖女，参加镇上举行的各种选美比赛，这令她倍感乏味。某个夜晚，布里丝和好友佩希（阿莉雅·肖卡特 Alia Shawkat 饰）去临镇奥斯汀观看了全由女子参加的轮滑对抗赛，女孩们的飒爽英姿和出色表现令布里丝倾倒，于是她决定学习轮滑。
