◎简　　介

　　目标成为外科医生的医学院学生苏珊·维勒（劳伦·艾波罗丝 Lauren Ambrose 饰）和几名同龄人来到桃树纪念医院实习，遇到了曾在泳池救过自己的马克·柏罗（Steven Pasquale 饰）。紧张忙碌的实习生活让她倍感充实，可是没多久她却发现一个奇怪的现象，医院在短期内出现了数量极不正常的术后昏迷者，而最后这些昏迷者无一例外被送往杰斐逊研究中心——一个对外宣称专门照顾植物人以及昏迷患者的神秘机构。苏珊通过各种办法查找昏迷者和杰斐逊研究中心之间的联系，而她的举动自然引起某些人的注意。在接下来的日子里，针对苏珊的事故和警告频频发生，可越是这样，她越无法停止接近真相的脚步，一桩藏身医疗体系背后的黑幕即将浮出水面……
