Yost家族中最年轻的是13岁的Shaun，他继承了父亲Butchie和爷爷Mitch的冲浪运动天赋。Butchie和Mitch在全胜时期的时候都是冲浪运动员中的佼佼者，不过却由于毒瘾，性格孤僻而自甘堕落。只有Yost的祖母Cissy在为孙子的成功而努力，试图让Shaun在商业和运动上取得成功，以此补偿丈夫和儿子的挫折与失败。
